Family Album 2012 – 2017
Family Album is a series of cloth works that the artist has
been collecting from family members. The work is composed of patterns details
of images that repeat in our memories. The patterns settle into the traditional
repetition that such cloths transmit. The installation is composed of cloths that
are props to the stage of our lives and our homes,
mapping out our memories of the present. The manipulation of memory
demonstrates how personal and social history is diverted through the
transformation of political and social patterns. Family Album is a work that
deals with the engineering of social consciousness by state politics and
strategies, as well as with the way our identities and memories are formed
through systematic repetition.
